Hawker Hurricane IIc LF363
Description
Hawker Hurricane IIc 'LF363' of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight on final approach to Blackpool Airport.
LF363 is believed to have been the last Hurricane to enter RAF service. She was built at The Hawker Aircraft Factory at Langley, near Slough in Berkshire in late 1943. Her first flight was on 1st January 1944.
In July 1957 LF363 became one of the founding aircraft of the RAF Historic Flight, the forerunner of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
On the 11th September 1991, she suffered a mechanical engine failure, resulting in a crash landing at RAF Wittering. The aircraft was seriously damaged and the pilot escaped with a broken ankle and minor burns. After a complete rebuild between 1994 and 1998, she flew again for the first time in 7 years and rejoined the BBMF.
