McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom II

Monochrome Rear on view of McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom II 155529 (c/n2746) in the markings of VF-74, US Navy.

Built in 1967 for the US Navy, 155529 served in Vietnam with VF-74, flying from the USS America. After retirement from the US Navy, it spent some time in storage at Davis Monthan, Arizona.

The Aircraft was amongst 12 aircraft re-worked for service with the RAF as F-4J(UK) or Phantom F Mk 3. It was delivered to 74 Sqn as ZE359 coded 'J' in 1984 and was based at RAF Wattisham, Suffolk.

After retirement in 1991 it was flown to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, Cambridgeshire. It was repainted in the colours of VF-74 and put on display in the American Air Museum.
